GW9 Preview - who to captain?

Who to captain?

It seemed like an eternity waiting for GW8 to arrive after the international break, but now FPL managers have a quick turn around as the GW9 deadline is 19:00 on Friday. Who will you be giving the captaincy to this weekend?

FPL managers put their faith in Jesus.
Gabriel Jesus came out on top of of the GW9 captaincy poll, 36% of over 700 managers who voted went for the Man City target man; and when you look at the recent Man City stats, it not hard to see why. They have scored 17 goals in their last 3 home games and once again play at the Etihad this weekend with Burnley visiting. Jesus is now owned by 22.6% of FPL managers with over 170k transferring him in this week. A word of warning is that Burnley have had some very impressive results on the road this season, and the return of Aguero may see the Brazilian rested.

Lukaku
Lukaku is still the most owned player in the FPL, this is despite over 50k transferring him out this week. The PL top scorer with 7 goals in 8 games was backed by 35% of managers in the poll. Man United's opponents for GW9 are Huddersfield, who have conceded 6 goals in their last 2 PL fixtures. Will Lukaku continue his fine goal scoring record?

Kane
Last GW Kane was captained by 1.6 million managers and returned just two points. The FPL community felt the pain of Kane's inability to find the net at Wembley in the PL and 70k managers transferred him out to free up extra cash. Just 11% of managers backed Kane in the poll and it remains to be seen whether Kane can turn his home form around, especially as Liverpool are the visitors to Wembley this Sunday.

Are the others possible captain differentials?
18% of managers said they were captaining someone other than the three listed above-with Sterling, Morata, Hazard, David Silva, Aguero, Salah and Martial all mentioned as potential captain choices.
These players pose some intriguing differential captain picks. Last weeks top scorer, Sterling, is only owned by 12.3% of FPL managers despite being transferred in by by over 200k managers. Aguero 8% and Hazard 4.6% also have low ownership, however do they come with pretty big price tags; but we have seen in previous seasons that these two can provide big returns.
